Plain English rules for using the STLACCESS 3D printing scale conversion tools for tabletop miniatures. I keep it simple so you can get back to printing.

The Short Version

By using STLACCESS, you agree to these simple rules. If you don't like how things are set up, please don't use the calculators. This tool will evolve over time, and I'll tweak these notes as needed to match new site features.

Using the Site

STLACCESS is a free tool built entirely for the 3D printing and tabletop gaming community — from 6mm epic to 32mm heroic, 35mm eye level, and every other scale I have measured.

  • Fair Use: You are completely free to use my scale conversion numbers for your personal and commercial 3D printing projects.
  • Play Nice: Please do not run automated scraping scripts to grab the conversion datasets or try to overwhelm my traffic setup.
  • Third-Party Links: Some pages may display sponsored banners and links to external offers (served via the ogads.com affiliate network). All such links are clearly marked as sponsored, open in a new tab, and are subject to their own websites' terms and privacy policies — not mine. See the Privacy Policy for details.
  • The Reference Badge: The embeddable reference badges are designed for sculptors and web stores to share scale information with their customers. Do not alter the badge embed code to distort how a scale applies to a model.

Who Can Use This Site

STLACCESS is a general hobby site for 3D printing and tabletop gaming. It is not a social media platform, not a marketplace, and not a site that hosts or sells STL files. There are no accounts, no profiles, no chat, and no way to upload files or post content.

Because there are no accounts and no personal information is collected, the site has nothing to "age-gate" — but please read this so we're all on the same page:

  • Under 13: This site is not directed at children under 13. If you're under 13, please use it together with a parent or guardian, and don't send me any personal details through the feedback forms or email.
  • Ages 13-16: In many countries (including across Europe and the UK), online services set a minimum age of between 13 and 16. Check what applies where you live. If your country says you need a parent or guardian's permission, please get it before using the tools.
  • No ID checks: I don't verify anyone's age or identity with documents or ID apps. I don't need to — I collect no personal data, host no user content, sell nothing, and show no adult material. You don't create an account, so there's nothing for a child to sign up for without permission.

Parents and guardians: because this site collects no personal information and has no accounts, there is nothing to sign up for, buy, or upload. If your child ever sends me a message that happens to include personal details, email me and I will delete it right away.

The "Failed Print" Clause

3D printing has a ton of moving parts, and small adjustments change everything. I use these mathematical scale calculations because they work cleanly for me, but I am not responsible for:

  • Wasted filament when prints fail.
  • Slight scale differences caused by material shrinkage or specific slicing profiles.
  • Unexpected sizing if the original designer didn't sculpt their models to standard baseline proportions.
  • Physical wear on your equipment or accidental injuries from working with printing tools.

In short: I run the numbers, but the print bed is your domain. If a millimeter level match is critical to your army build, always print a small test piece first.

Why Your Prints Can Differ From Mine

Every percentage on this site was tested on my printer, with my slicer, my filament, and my calibration. Your machine is different — and so is how you set it up.

  • Slicer to slicer: Different slicers (Chitubox, Lychee, PrusaSlicer, Cura, Bambu Studio…) handle scaling, shrinkage, and units slightly differently. The math is the same, but the settings around it are not.
  • Printer to printer: No two printers are identical. Stepper motors, belts, beds, and hotends all have tiny differences that add up in a 28mm model.
  • Setup and calibration: The biggest variable is how you've set up and calibrated your machine — your steps-per-mm, your flow rate, your temperature tower results, your bed leveling, your first layer. Two identical printers can print different sizes if one is well calibrated and the other isn't.

So please treat my numbers as tested, honest starting points — not as a guarantee that your machine will produce the same result. Print a test piece, measure it with calipers, and adjust to match your own setup. That's exactly what I do.

Independence & Trademarks

STLACCESS is a strictly independent project.

  • I have no connection, backing, or agreements with Games Workshop, Atomic Mass Games, Wizards of the Coast, or any other miniature brand.
  • Game names like "Warhammer 40,000" or "Star Wars Legion" belong exclusively to their respective owners. I only mention them on this site so hobbyists know which games use which general model proportions — as a reference, not as an endorsement. I do not sell, host, or redistribute any brand's files or artwork.
  • Tool and printer names I mention (like Chitubox, Lychee, PrusaSlicer, Cura, Bambu Lab) are also trademarks of their owners, referenced only to help you find the right settings.

How Things Stand

Since people access this calculation layout globally from printing desks and tournament halls, I design everything to be as clear and minimal as possible. These guidelines are managed under the local rules where this hobby project runs, and I try to stay friendly to laws around the world — including the tougher ones like GDPR in Europe and the UK Children's Code.
